About Me
I want my writers to grasp the 'power of words' in our world and to further themselves professionally in an ever-changing world.
Teaching writing has been my life's work and gives me purpose every day when I step onto a campus or open up my laptop to create curriculum content and learning.
Throughout my career, I have taught at every level of the reading and writing classroom from 7-12. I currently teach composition and literature courses in higher education as a composition and rhetoric specialist for dual credit students.
In the past, I have taught A.C.T. prep weekend classes for Rose State College when I lived in Oklahoma and have taught S.A.T. prep privately while living in Texas.
Helping Students to Embrace Language to Become Confident Writers
In teaching writing and thinking, my task is to help students understand how the these two activities correspond. I aim to bring out their inner-writer and to help them appreciate the beauty of the art and craft of composition.
In applying to college, the written word makes a difference in college acceptance. It can also lead to scholarships and other recognition.
The bottom line is this: College applications essays are particular when it comes to crafting a compelling personal statement.
Regardless of the writing task, my instructional goal is always the same: To inspire students to embrace the meaning of Quintilian's "A good man who speaks well."
